10-18-11 - IT Internship (Unpaid)

This description is intended to describe the type of work being performed by an unpaid intern that is assigned to this position. It is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required by a person so classified. Students do not displace or work instead of regular employees, but work under their close observation.

Volunteers

2-10-12 - Tutor

Title: Adult Basic Education Tutor (Volunteer)           Effective Date: 2/10/12

Reports To: Residential Program Director                 Reviewed Date: 2/10/12        

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate basic education classes including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and history.
  • Assist students with preparing for the GED exam and/or to enter college-level classes or training programs.
  • Facilitate both group and individual tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Assess client’s educational level and learning style; tailor classes to meet these needs.
  • Assist clients with learning basic computer skills including accessing the internet, setting up email accounts, and basic word processing utilizing the in-house computer lab.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of high school diploma and/or GED; experience with teaching preferred.
  • Minimum of one year’s sobriety (if recovering).
  • Ability and willingness to work in a manner which will not needlessly endanger the safety of one’s self, other persons and equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow workers, clients and the general public.
  • Willing to volunteer at least 2-3 days per week totaling 6 hours per week.
