How does the
Transitional Housing (TH) program work?
The TH program offers supportive pre-independent living arrangements for
homeless men who have completed a residential substance abuse treatment
program. They receive vocational counseling, employment assistance,
substance abuse counseling (individual and group therapy) and life
management skills training. The average stay is six months, but an
individual may live at our Transitional House for up to two years.
To meet TH requirements, residents must:
- remain completely
substance-free
- spend eight hours
daily working on personal goals
- attend Alcoholics
Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings regularly
- Secure a sponsor and
home group
- participate in group
and individual counseling sessions
- pay for residential
services when employed in the amount of 30% of their gross income (1/2
of which is returned upon a successful completion of the TH program).
