Hello from Petey

in

Boy, I can't wait until winter is over. In the spring everything is new, exciting, and beautiful. Speaking of new and exciting, isn't our new web page great? I haven't been able to blog for a while because we were getting a makeover. I wonder what I would look like with a makeover? Probably cute as ever, just don't put any bows in my fur!

Until we talk again...WOOF!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merrry X-Mas!

in

I'm so excited for Christmas to come. I have gathered so many bones, used socks, old balls, and weird fuzzy things to give to all my friends at Mariners Inn.

Maybe you too can help them have a good x-mas! Just drop off your new hats, gloves, scarves, word search books, travel coffee cups, or a monetary donation to Mariners Inn.

I'll be looking for you!!!

MI Art Display at Swords into Plowshares!

in

How cool is this...My friends at Mariners Inn have their art displayed at Swords into Plowshares. The Exhibit is called "Picking Up The Pieces" It's open T, TH, & Sat 11-3

Today while I was on my walk I checked out the community art project "Takin it to the Streets-Hands Across Cass Corridor". This mosaic is displayed on the Cass Ave side of Mariners Inn building. You have got to see it . If I had a bone for every tile that was made I'd be set until X-Mas.

Drive by at night it looks really awesome lit in the dark!

Help Mariners Inn with Art Projects

in

Did you know you can come to Mariners Inn to work on an art project with us? We are making a mosaic mural that will go on the side of the building. Everyone is making a square with their handprint on it. The next work day is September 11 and there is no cost to participate. Ms. Webb says people are going to be working from 9:00 until about noon and you don't have to know how to do mosaics to help out.

There will be a lot of people there who can teach you how. And if you have any cool rocks, pieces of glass, ceramic, shells, or anything like that, bring it and put it on your square. If you don't have anything to bring, that's ok, too. There are already a lot of tiles and things here. But you could bring me some treats.

Donate to the River Rhythm 2010 Auction

in

Today I played in the backyard of the TH house. I love it when people throw things for me to chase. The men here give me neat toys to play with, like balls and empty pop bottles, which I really love.

Last week they brought me to Canine to Five to be groomed. I like it there because the people are very nice and there are many other dogs. I got a bath and a haircut.

Do you like my haircut?

Also, I have been looking around the yard for something to donate to the River Rhythm auction. I thought a squirrel might be a good idea, but they are really quick and they stay high up in the trees so I haven't been able to catch one yet. Do you have anything to donate? The proceeds from the auction help Mariners Inn a lot.

I hope you are coming to River Rhythm this year. I am not allowed to go because dogs are not allowed in restaurants, especially really nice ones like the Roostertail. That's too bad, because the Roostertail is right on the water and I think I could have a lot of fun swimming and shaking water on everyone.

I hear that River Rhythm is a great time. The food is really good and there are lots of prizes you can win in the silent and live auctions. Ms. Newton is going to make a basket with dog treats.

I wonder if I could sneak into River Rhythm.

Ms. Webb has many sponsorship opportunities available. Please check them out. You can also buy an ad in the program book or donate an auction item! Your support helps my friends here who are trying to make their lives better.

Lobby Renovations Complete: Grand opening May 21!

in

I have been so busy lately working on Mariners Inn lobby renovations I haven't had time to blog. But I did want to make sure you knew about our grand opening on May 21at 10:30am. Come down and see all the hard work I've done painting, cleaning, and placing all those little tiny tiles on the wall. I'll tell you it's not easy with paws; I keep getting glue in my fur! YUCK!! The clients did the artwork that will be on the walls.

We will also be unveiling our mosaic bench/bike rack which was funded by the Colin Hubbel Fund and supported by Canine to Five and Wheelhouse Detroit.

Best yet, Mariners Inn will be planting a Tree Of Life. This tree is in honor of all those individuals we lost in 2009. I love trees!

I can't wait to see you May 21st  at 10:30

Does anyone know what the tax deduction is for BONES?

in

Tomorrow is tax day and I hope everyone has donated to Mariners Inn for their 2009 charitable contributions deduction! If not please think of us in 2010. You can donate anything from cash to clothes to food; we accept it all.

Just call Doreen Webb at 313.962.9446 ext 230 for more information.

I think I'm going to just bury my bones in the backyard from now on!
