RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAMS

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT PROGRAM (IOP)

It is the mission of the Mariners Inn Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to provide compassionate, professional, and person-centered substance use treatment services to adults in the community. The IOP is often the second step to our program mileu, designed to support individuals in strengthening their recovery while maintaining responsibilities related to work, family, and community life. Through structured and evidence-based services, we strive to promote dignity, self-respect, accountability, and long-term recovery.

The Intensive Outpatient Program serves adults age 18 and older who have substance use disorders and/or co-occurring mental health conditions and do not require 24-hour supervision. Most individuals entering IOP are transitioning from a higher level of care or seeking structured support while living independently in the community. Participants often present with complex needs, including previous trauma, legal involvement, high risk behaviors, housing instability, economic barriers, and challenges related to mental and physical health.

Treatment in the IOP combines evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and enhancement, Seeking Safety Curriculum and trauma informed care, and 12-step principles with alternative therapies, including art therapy, sound healing, poetry, music, and Recovery Dharma. Services are delivered by a multidisciplinary team and include individual therapy, group therapy, case management, care coordination, psychiatric services, and recovery support services. Programming is provided through curriculum-based groups and skill-building didactic style educational groups addressing topics such as relapse prevention, mental health, coping skills, understanding and recovering from trauma, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, communication, stress management, recovery planning, health and wellness, vocational counseling and workforce development, spirituality, and community reintegration. The IOP emphasizes accountability, skill development, and personal growth to support sustained recovery and successful engagement in the community.
